Qabbani: Palestine’s Liberation an Islamic Duty, Lebanon Faces Dangers
Local Editor

Lebanese Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani reiterated Friday that "Palestine is and will remain an Arab land over centuries and times."

He also confirmed that "the liberation of Palestine from the foreign occupation is the responsibility of every Arab and Muslim."

"No matter how long it takes, God willing, Palestine will be liberated ...since people neither sell their own home, nor transfer it in the name of a just peace with the foreign occupier," he stressed.
Sheikh Qabbani further highlighted that Palestinians won't accept nationalization in any land outside their Palestinian homeland, especially in Lebanon. "

On the internal front the Mufti lauded the National Dialogue as the "beginning of salvation," and urged political leaders to work together to rescue Lebanon.
"The beginning of salvation is at the dialogue table," Qabbani stated.

In parallel, he warned that "what has happened and is still going on in Tripoli as well as in the north and the Bekaa should make us more cautious and aware of its risks so that it won't become a gateway for strife in the whole of Lebanon."

"Lebanon is passing through difficult times, requiring all of us to launch exceptional national rescue efforts and overcome wounds and differences," the Mufti asserted as he called Lebanese to prevent their country "from sliding into an abyss of suicidal internal conflict."
