Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, stressed that Iran should not face threats over its peaceful nuclear program, believing that a quick settlement of the argument over it is not realistic.
In an interview with Russia's "Rossiya 24" TV, Lavrov described the latest round of talks held in Moscow between the six world powers and Iran as "quite useful," although there was no step forward in this regard, the Associated Press reported.
He further asserted that talks should continue without any "artificial deadlines or ultimatum," in order to serve the talks right.
"In order to settle the issue, it's necessary to refrain from constant threats of using force, abandon scenarios aimed against Iran, and stop dismissing the talks as failure," Lavrov iterated.
The Russian Foreign Minister addressed those seeking aggressive actions against Iran, implying that their condition, to reach a final agreement by the end of July or August, is illogical; believing that "there simply can't be any agreement in such a [short] period."
Russia has for long defended Iran's right to pursue nuclear research and technologies, and rebuffed unilateral sanctions against it after being accused by the West and "Israel" of seeking nuclear weapons.
Iran strictly rejects such accusations, and repeatedly confirms that its nuclear program is completely peaceful and is used only for domestic technologies' developments.
Unlike the US and "Israel", Iran is a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and its nuclear program operates under the supervision of the UN nuclear watchdog.
