Local Editor

An armed terrorist group assassinated Saturday the main brain of the Syrian missile program Nabil Zugheib. The scientist's family were also killed in the attack.

According to "al-Alam" news channel, an armed group assassinated Zugheib as he was moving with his family by car in Bab Touma region, Damascus.
The armed group openedfire on their car, killing Zugheib, his son George and his wife, Violet.

Meanwhile, sources reported that his son Jimmy was transferred to hospital in a critical condition.

This came as Lt. Gen. Hisham Ikhtyar, the Head of the National Security Office, on Saturday was escorted from al-Shami Hospital to be laid to rest.
Lt. Gen. Ikhtyar died of wounds he sustained in the terrorist explosion which targeted the National Security HQ in Damascus last Wednesday.
The funeral ceremony started with the National Anthem as the procession took its course surrounded by a group of officers.

Afterwards, Deputy Vice-President Farouq al-Sharaa and Minister of Defense Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij laid wreaths of flowers on the martyr's body before he was laid to rest in the Martyrs' Cemetery in al-Dahdah area.
