Berri: Proportionality Law Serves National Interests, Distances Lebanon from Division
Local Editor

Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri considered that the Parliament's approval on the electoral draft-law is an prelude to progress, especially as it adopts proportionality and takes Women electoral quota in consideration.

He noted that "The parliament [should] discuss the draft law based on one concern: to avoid all factors that increase divisions among the Lebanese people."
The cabinet approved on Tuesday an electoral law based on proportional representation and which divides Lebanon into 13 electoral districts.
According to the Lebanese constitution, the cabinet transfers draft laws to parliament for final approval.
