Sources in the occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) reported on Thursday that "Israeli" Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein advised "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his entity should apologize for its deadly attack on the Turkish Gaza-Bound Mavi-Marmara on May 31, 2010.
The al-Quds (Jerusalem) sources stated that the attorney general believed that the UN investigation into the aforementioned attack might prompt lawsuits against the "Israeli" troops who took part in the operation, Haaretz Zionist daily reported.
Therefore, Weinstein recommended that the "Israeli" entity reaches an understanding with Turkey, even if that requires "Israel" to apologize.
In this context, the attorney general noted that if the Turkish government promised it would not file a lawsuit against the "Israeli" soldiers, then "Israel" should consider apologizing for its "misuse of force" during the Mavi-Marmara attack.
The UN (Palmer) report into the "Israeli" attack on the Mavi-Marmara is expected to be published on July 27, after being delayed many times due to US pressure out of fear that the ongoing crisis between "Israel" and Turkey might cause harm to its interests in the Middle East, the Zionist daily further added.
Although the Palmer report is expected to find the "Israeli" naval siege to be legal, it also would accuse the "Israeli" soldiers of using excessive force, leading to the death of activists.
