Two peaceful Bahraini protesters were martyred after suffering the inhalation of toxic gases thrown by regime forces against peaceful demonstrators. One of the martyrs was 80-year-old Mariam Nasir Abdullah, who passed away last Saturday, June 9.
This comes as the Saudi-backed crackdown continues; with the latest martyr, 4-year-old Ahmad Mansour al-Nahham, who was sprayed with shotgun pellets between his father's hands on February 13.
The "Bahrain Freedom Movement" described the scene as "reminiscent of what had happened to the Palestinian boy, Mohammed Al Durra and his father in 2001 when the "Israelis" mercilessly sprayed them with bullets as they sheltered near a wall."
During protests that swept across the towns and cities near Manama last Thursday and Friday, the regime forces used violence to disperse the crowds, leading to several injuries.
The "Bahrain Freedom Movement" stated that all injuries were treated at clinics run by volunteer doctors and nurses, as the main hospital are run by the military; so anyone who seeks treatment there will certainly be arrested.
On this level, the Al-Khalifa regime court issued on Friday verdicts sentencing Dr. Ali al-Ekri for five years in prison, Dr. Ibrahim al-Demstani for three years, and Dr, Ghassan Dhaif for one year.
Other doctors and nurses have been also sentenced to imprisonments ranging between six months and five years, for treating injured protesters during the onset of the 2011 Bahraini "Pearl Revolution", although most of them had been previously jailed and released.
This notion triggered international condemnation, especially regarding the Al-Khalifa decision to arrest innocent people after they had been released; proving the regime's repression.
For its part, Amnesty International scolded the Bahraini regime for the aforementioned conviction, dubbing them "politically motivated" and "completely unfounded".
These human rights violations are no longer a great shock from the Bahraini regime, as it heartlessly attacks, arrests, and tortures protesters, including children.
Last week, the spotlight of the Al-Khalifa brutal practices was with the arrest and torture of 11-year-old Ali Hassan. After the international human rights uproar against Hassan's arrest, the regime released the child, pending trial, after his arrest became an embarrassment to Al-Khalifa regime, and to its allies; namely the US and Britain.
