In light of the ongoing suppression the Bahraini regime performs against the peaceful protests demanding reform and rights, Bahraini anti-regime protesters have once again held demonstrations across the country to demand the release of all political prisoners and an end to social and religious discrimination.
The demonstrators took to the streets in several towns and villages on Sunday. Similar demonstrations were also held in Bahrain on June 29. The Saudi-backed regime forces attacked the protesters using tear gas and rubber bullets.
Bahraini protesters also demand a democratically-elected government that would represent the will of the nation.
The demonstrators hold King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa responsible for the killing of the protesters during the uprising that began in February 2011.
A large number of Bahraini people had poured out in several villages, reiterating their calls for the ouster of al-Khalifa regime on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ali al-Mawali, 21, is still in a critical condition, fighting for his life one week after he had been shot by members of al-Khalifa death squads. Last Friday he was hit at close range with a rubber bullet straight into his head. He sustained serious brain damage and had to undergo two serious operations. He sustained a fractured skull that caused serious brain damage. As he lay unconscious the regime formally charged him with participation in unlicensed congregation.
Scores of people have been killed and thousands more put behind bars since the beginning of the popular anti-regime revolution in February 2011.
