Charbel: Collaborating With “Israeli” Enemy Worst Crime
Local Editor

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said that the act of collaborating with the "Israeli" enemy was the worst crime.

The minister was speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with a committee comprised of representatives of captives incarcerated in "Israel" and former prisoners in "Israeli" jails, according to the National News Agency.

The committee’s members explained to Charbel their mission is to prevent "Israeli" agents from walking free, since "it [tarnishes] the sacrifices [made by] prisoners and martyrs."
"Lebanon cannot [survive without] a controlled security situation and an independent and effective judicial [authority]," the NNA quoted Charbel as saying.

"No crime is worse than collaborating with the enemy," he added.
Charbel called for non-inference in the affairs of the judicial authority, "for it to fully complete its role."

He also promised the representatives to support their demands and voiced his surprise over judicial decisions allowing the release of a few prisoners who had been convicted of spying for "Israel".

More than 100 people have been arrested on suspicion of spying for the "Israeli" secret service Mossad since April 2009, including members of the security forces and telecom employees.
